R.', looks across Sydney Harbour from the North Shore toward the Garden Palace, its central dome and corner towers rising above the far shore, with Fort Denison, sailing ships and a steamer on the water between. The Garden Palace was built in the Domain in 1879 to house the Sydney International Exhibition, which ran until April 1880, and Sir William Dixson dated this view to about 1880 in a pencil note on its mount.
