Methodist Church, Railway Parade, Burwood, c. 1900–27

This Gothic-style stone church on Railway Parade opened on 2 December 1879 and was the first Methodist church in Burwood, designed by the young architect William Boles, who died shortly after completing the design. It was enlarged in 1893, the year a large Hunter organ was installed as a memorial to the Rev. George Hurst. In 1970 the Methodist congregation formed a united parish with the Congregationalists and sold the building to the Greek Orthodox Church, which renamed it St Nectarios. The view was issued as a postcard by Broadhurst Post Card Publishers of Sydney and Ashfield.
