The album, compiled over roughly 1835 to 1880, brings together landscapes, coastal views, ships and portraits by several artists, Australian and non-Australian alike, so a marine sheet such as this one is not necessarily a local scene. No land, landmark or inscription identifies the stretch of water, and the sheet carries no visible date or signature.
