The circular view shows an enlarged railway terminus with an arched train shed and curving approach lines at right, a domed public building near the centre, and formal squares and gardens laid over the surrounding streets. Royal commissions inquired into the proposed extension of the railway into the city in 1890 and again in 1896–97, and the Central Railway Station eventually built on the area to the designs of Government Architect W.L. Vernon officially opened on 4 August 1906. The drawing belongs to a group of proposed plans of the area near Central Station, dated 1890–1899, associated with the Royal Australian Historical Society.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Reverie
