Looking out over the rooftops of central Sydney from the Grosvenor Hotel, with the tower and nave of St Philip's Church at the centre and Clarence Street running off to the right. The General Post Office tower, then without its clock, rises in the distance, while shopfronts, terraces and a street lamp frame the view. The photograph was taken by Charles Bayliss and is dated to 1887 in the catalogue record.
